We design spaces
that take a position.
about us

01
Precision
Every decision we make is considered. Materials, proportions, transitions between spaces — nothing is left to default. We work slowly on purpose.
02
Restraint
We resist the urge to add. The spaces we are proudest of are those where something has been taken away — where the essential has been found and everything else removed.
03
Rootedness
We design for specific places and specific people. A project in Warsaw is not the same as a project in Lisbon. Context is not a constraint — it is the brief.
The Studio
Founded on the idea that design should leave something behind.

Mood Design was established with a simple conviction: that the built environment is worth taking seriously, at every scale. We work on residential renovations and restaurant fit-outs, on bathhouses and office buildings, on collections of objects. The scale changes. The seriousness does not.
Our team brings together architecture, interior design, and object design under one roof — not because we believe every project needs all three, but because the overlap between disciplines is where the most interesting work happens. We are based in Warsaw, and we work across Europe.
We take on a limited number of projects at any one time. This is deliberate. Every project on our table receives our full attention, from the first conversation to the final detail.

History
How we got here.
2016
Studio founded
Anna Kowalska and Tomasz Wiśniewski establish Mood Design in Warsaw. The studio takes on its first residential commission — and the working method that would define everything that followed begins to take shape.
2018
First international commission
The studio completes its first project outside Poland — a hospitality interior in Italy. It marks the beginning of a practice that treats local context as the primary brief rather than a constraint to work around.
2020
Object design practice launched
A new member joins the studio and brings object design into the practice formally. What began as occasional furniture commissions becomes a dedicated discipline — developed over the following years into a recognised strand of the studio's work.
2022
First architecture commission
The studio completes its first ground-up architectural project — a private residence in which topography and climate are treated as central design arguments rather than constraints. Architecture joins interior design and object design as a full discipline within the practice.
2023
First major international recognition
A retail interior project is shortlisted for a Dezeen Award — the studio's first significant recognition beyond its immediate client base. A signal that the approach had found an audience.
2024
Largest project to date
The studio takes on its most complex brief yet — a large-scale workplace project combining architecture, interior design, and bespoke object commissions within a single scope. The project tests every part of the practice simultaneously.

Recognition
Awards & recognition.
We don't design for prizes. But when the work is recognised by people whose judgement we respect, that means something.
